Biography
Teaching.
Dane Chalfin is one of the UK’s Leading Professional Vocal Consultants. His clients include Signed Recording Artists, West End and Touring Actors, TV, Film and Radio Actors, Comedians, Soapstars, Universities, TV and Radio Presenters, Worship Ministries, Recording Studios, Management and Production Companies, Business Leaders, UK Hospitals, and Voice Users requiring Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Dane has an in-depth knowledge of contemporary vocal pedagogies and research and has worked for over a decade with some of the world’s leading voice specialists in both the US and UK.
He has a particular interest in vocal rehabilitation and safeguarding High-Intensity voice use.
He has been recruited for projects by media outlets including BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, BBC America, NBC, BBC GMR, Channel 4 Radio, BBC Liverpool and Cross Rhythms Christian Radio.
The studio has been on-call for major artists touring and recording in Northern England on labels including Polydor, Universal, Deltasonic and Universal Classics and Jazz.
Dane has been asked to write singing and/or speaking voice programs, provide consultations, and help train teachers for Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), University of Salford and Leeds College of Music where he is currently a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Vocal Technique.
The studio has coached cast members from major productions of Miss Saigon, The Producers!, Saturday Night Fever, CATS, and Mamma Mia!. We also work with actors on Television in Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Shameless.
Dane is a member or the British Voice Association, The Musicians Union, and actively supports charities including Children in Need, Action Aid and The Royal School for the Deaf and Communication Disorders.
Dane is a director of the British Voice Association.

Typical lesson structure: Issues covered include Practical Vocal Anatomy and Physiology, Troubleshooting Sound Qualities, Expanding Range, Increasing Stability and Flexibility, Eliminating Unwanted Breaks or Changes in Sound Quality, Active Posture including Anchoring/Support, Safeguarding High Intensity Sounds including Twang, Mixed Speech and Belting, Text Analysis and Interpretation, Style Coaching, Performance Skills/Stagecraft, and Vocal Rehabilitation.
All teaching practices are evidence-based and rely on the latest information available from the world of voice science, medicine, voice therapy, and pedagogy.
